Are we accidentally only celebrating the finish line?

So often in organisations we praise the outcome - the sale, the delivery, the result - but overlook the inputs that actually got us there: the prep, the learning, the consistency, the difficult conversations, the follow-through (and yes… the boring-but-important admin).

In this episode, Juliet and Sammy reflect on why it can be genuinely useful to focus on (and celebrate) the things people can control - their inputs - especially when outcomes are sometimes out of our hands. We also explore the risk of being overly outcome-driven: it can end up condoning behaviours we don’t actually want… as long as the numbers look good.

Juliet summed it up perfectly: maybe we need to broaden what we mean by “outcomes” - because making the sale is an outcome… but so is leaving your colleagues in a mess along the way.

If you’re leading a team and want to build performance and healthy culture, this one’s for you.
